Critical Theory, Part 1

While imprisoned by Mussolini from 1929 to 1935, Antonio Gramsci, an Italian Marxist founding member and leader of the communist party in Italy, wrote the following:

"Any country grounded in Judeo - Christian values cannot be overthrown until its Christian roots are cut out."

However, Gramsci admitted in order to accomplish this, to change the culture, a long march through the institutions would be necessary. Gramsci questioned the cultural hegemony that states the dominate ideology of society, beliefs, explanations, perceptions, values, and morals reflect that of the ruling class. The dominate ideology justifies the social political and economic status quo as natural, perpetual, expected and beneficial for everyone. Gramsci suggested this was an artificial social construct that benefits only the ruling class. Part of his solution was socialism.

Webster's defines socialism as, "any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods."

This is opposite to capitalism.

Capitalism is an economic system based on the private ownership of the means of production and their operation for profit.

Central characteristics of capitalism include capital accumulation, competitive markets, a price system, private property, and the recognition of property rights, voluntary exchange, and wage labor.

Gramsci was a Marxist and believed in something called "Critical Theory."

"Critical Theory" originated in the Marxist think-tank known as the Frankfurt School. Modeled after the Marx-Engels Institute in Moscow, the Frankfort School was more a school of thought than a school.

It was founded by Carl Grünberg in 1923, and its ivory tower liberal members famously included Walter Benjamin, Theodor Adorno, Herbert Marcuse, and Max Horkheimer.

Formed when Marxism had failed to sweep into Western Europe and the US as hoped following the Bolshevik revolution, it sought "the state of hopelessness and alienation that they considered necessary" to provoke a mass socialist revolution.

Offering the most destructive criticism possible of every sphere of life, it endeavored to de-stabilize society and bring it to its knees by engineering its collapse and producing crisis and catastrophe.

When Hitler came to power, the Institute was closed and its members fled to the United States ending up as academics at the universities of Columbia, Princeton, Brandeis, and Berkeley. There, this destructive cancer was embraced by the so-called scholars of our free country. They continued to work and further develop this satanic scheme under the pretext of higher learning and for the good of mankind.

Nothing could be further from the truth. For years this perverted philosophy was refined, protected and funded by our tax dollars and then endowed with clandestine destructive words like "privilege" and "woke" only to be intentionally re-released into our society.

Critical theory purports nice-sounding goals that few would argue with like seeking human "emancipation from slavery," acting as a "liberating … influence," and working "to create a world which satisfies the needs and powers" of human beings (Horkheimer 1972, 246).

Critical theorists place all of society into one of two groups, the oppressors, and the oppressed. The oppressors are straight, white, Christian males. Even if you are poor and worked hard your entire life to provide for your family, you are still a "privileged oppressor" because of your skin color, sexual orientation, political opinions, and religious beliefs.

But you are still an oppressor if you happen to be a member of the oppressed class too. No matter your skin color, sexual orientation, politics, or religion, you still have "privilege," and must do your part to destroy your oppression on those with less "privilege." In this irrational system, virtually everyone is an oppressor.

Critical theory is designed to divide and conquer. It's a system of revolution, suffering, chaos, and violence. And like cancer, it has taken hold in our culture, media, business, politics, and even our churches.

The Frankfurt School made the following twelve very recognizable recommendations:

  1. The creation of racism offenses and hate speech laws.
  2. Continual change to create confusion (e.g., in school curricula).
  3. Masturbation propaganda in schools, combined with the homosexualization of children and their corruption by exposing them to child porn in the classroom.
  4. The systematic undermining of parental and teachers' authority.
  5. Huge immigration to destroy national identity and foment future race wars.
  6. The systematic promotion of excessive drinking and recreational drugs.
  7. The systematic promotion of sexual deviance in society.
  8. An unreliable legal system with bias against the victims of crime.
  9. Dependency on state benefits.
  10. Control and dumbing down of media.
  11. Encouraging the breakdown of the family.
  12. An all-out attack on Christianity and the emptying of churches.
John 10:10a The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy:

1 John 3:8b For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

Is there any wonder why the wisdom of this world is at enmity with God and the people of God?

1 Corinthians 1:17-21 17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect. {words: or, speech} 18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. 19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. 20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? 21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

Critical theory is one of the foolish wisdoms of this world. This wisdom originated with the god of this world and then was delivered to some of the most gifted and brilliant scholars our world had to offer.

It doesn't matter if you put a tuxedo on a pig. At the end of the day, all you have is a pig in a tuxedo. It is the same with critical theory. Dress it and spin it any way you like but at the end of the day all you have is Marxism dressed in red, white, and blue.

Cities are burning to the ground as they cry "defund the police." Small businesses are being looted and destroyed. People are being fired for posting the "wrong opinion" online.

How did we get here? Critical Theory.

Campus activism or organized chaos?

"For expressing his view, Mr. Weinstein was confronted outside his classroom last week by a group of some 50 students insisting he was a racist."

The video of that exchange — "You're supporting white supremacy" is one of the more milquetoast quotes — must be seen to be believed… Following the protest, college police, ordered by Evergreen's president to stand down, told Mr. Weinstein they couldn't guarantee his safety on campus.

In the end, Mr. Weinstein held his biology class in a public park. Meantime, photographs and names of his students were circulated online.

"Fire Bret" graffiti showed up on campus buildings. What was that about safe spaces?"

-Bari Weiss, The New York Times, When the Left Turns on Its Own.

"The problem is not with the quest for justice. The problem is what happens when that quest is undertaken from a framework that is not compatible with the Bible.

And this is a very real problem, because the extent to which we unknowingly allow unbiblical worldview assumptions to shape our approach to justice is the extent to which we are inadvertently hurting the very people we seek to help."
