Guardian Lie, Part 2

Go to the previous issue.

In this issue, I'd like to continue with some more Guardian Lies I have encountered in the past--some as recent as a week ago. However, before I list several more for you, let me once again define what I mean by Guardian Lies.

The word guardian as defined from Webster's Dictionary means: "one that guards; one who has the care of a person or property of another." This word guardian comes from the word guard, which means "to stand at the entrance of as if on guard; or as a barrier; to watch by way of caution or defense."

Now a lie is "something that misleads or deceives." So, a Guardian Lie as I am using it here means: a lie that stands at the entrance of a person's mind, as a barrier, to mislead or deceive that person from receiving the truth.

Many times these Guardian Lies protect the strongholds the adversary has built in our minds. In Part One, I handled the clichè of what the renewed mind had become for many people. People would quote the phrase "renew your mind" and use it as an answer to everything and sometimes use it against people (in a condemning and critical way) when they were not receiving God's abundance in their lives.

You will get nowhere if you don't renew your mind. Now, don't take this title of Guardian Lies and make a clichè out of it, and then use it against someone when they disagree with you. If you do, you have missed the point entirely and are no better than the Pharisees in the days of our Lord. Having warned you of this trick of the devil, let's move on with our next Guardian Lie.

Guardian Lie: "Born again Christians cannot have a demon."

I once ministered to a woman who for 20 years refused to consider the possibility that she had a demon because she was born again and spoke in tongues. So, for the next 20 years she endured horrible torment from dozens of demons. Once I got her past this lie, we were able to easily set her free.

1 Timothy 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; How can one depart from the faith if he never had it in the first place? This verse is talking bout born again believers who go astray.

Guardian Lie: "Everything bad goes away when we get born again and we start out fresh."

I wish this were true. The truth is that people have the same problems after the new birth as they did before. We still have not gotten back to the way the early church fathers operated.

Mark 16:17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

Look at the order: first they cast out the evil spirits, then they speak with new tongues. If you read the early church fathers, you will quickly see that they performed what we would call an exorcism before they lead their people into the new birth. Today we do it the other way around. The problem with our approach is that our people get saved, and if they have spirits, they bring them into the church. Then, for the most part, these spirits hide and constantly torment these people a lifetime if they are not addressed.

Philippians 2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

The word salvation is the word soteria. One of its meanings is "deliverance from the molestation of enemies."

We need to do whatever we can to uncover the darkness in our life so we can be our best for our God. That includes getting ministered to, if needed, so we can have freedom from the molestation of our enemies.

Guardian Lie: "The devil has no legal rights in a believer's life."

Nice thought, but dead wrong. God never oversteps our free will. And if you, by your free will, give the devil rights to your life, he will take them and use them against you!

Luke 22:3 Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve.

How could Satan do this? Because Judas gave him the legal right to by his sinful behavior. I'm sure he didn't invite him in like this: "Oh Satan, I want you in my life now, so you can help me betray my Lord and kill myself." That is stupid.

Judas invited Satan into his life by his sinful behavior. We do the same thing when we continue in sinful behavior. In doing so, we give him legal rights to do as he pleases in our lives. For instance, if you cannot go more than a week without drinking alcohol, you probably have a drinking problem. Most people I minister to that drink regularly feel they don't have a problem. So, I tell them to stop drinking for a month and report back to me with the result. Some get very upset and call me religious and legalistic.

No matter: if you can't stop for a month, you have a problem. And if you get really upset at the thought of stopping, you probably have some spiritual causes (demons) fueling your anger. I'm not trying to upset anyone, but no one seems to care if God gets upset.

People hide their sins and call them by a different name like "a bad habit," or "a social drinker." So, instead of living clean with God, they try to get rid of the sin, rename it, justify it, and say "it's grace."

Titus 2:11-12 11For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, 1Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

This is what grace teaches us: that we should live soberly, righteously, and godly. When? Now. In this present world.

Guardian Lie: If a person speaks in tongues he is from the Devil." Do you know that whole denominations have split over this subject?

NAS 1 Corinthians 12:3 Therefore I make known to you, that no one speaking by the Spirit of God says, "Jesus is accursed;" and no one can say, "Jesus is Lord," except by the Holy Spirit.

According to verse 3, just the opposite is true. However, if a person believes the lie that tongues are from the devil, etcetera, you won't get to first base until you address this lie with the Word and God's light.

Acts 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

God is at work when you speak in tongues. Look at verse 11:

Acts 2:11 Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.

I Corinthians 14:18 I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all:

Now, I think if the great apostle Paul spoke in tongues much, perhaps we might do well to consider it.

Guardian Lie: "Where will I go?"

I have seen too many times just what this lie will do. I suffered with this lie for many years. Because the adversary was able to plant this lie in my mind, I was in bondage and controlled for many years by a ministry. I was afraid to leave, and every time I thought about leaving, this lie kept me in fear, guilt, and condemnation; as if God Almighty does not work in any ministry but yours and mine.

Philippians 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

I got myself so screwed up that I didn't even believe this verse any more. Oh, I could quote it, and did quote it, but I stopped living it when I believed the lie, "where else can I go?" By my believing this lie, I said, "God is not able to take care of me." The problem was I had a different god. A religion and organization had become my new god all under the guise of spiritual enlightenment.

Hebrews 13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

See, the thing about a Guardian Lie is that it protects the other lies in your life. As long as I believed there was nowhere else for me to go to learn God's Word, I was in a 'catch 22' scenario: I was miserable if I stayed, and I was a 'cop out' on God if I left.

The adversary is very deceptive in his ways. So much so, that for many who were able to break free of the bondage of this lie and leave, they still retained this lie in their memory after they left. Once they were free and able to move on with their life, this lie would surface and they would go through the cycle of defeat over and over again.

If the lie was never identified and dealt with, the adversary had a stronghold to attack from within the person's mind. The individual would then feel shame, despair, guilt, condemnation, and fear to name a few symptoms. As long as this lie was still active, it would control that person even though they were separated from the organization that embedded this lie into their mind.

Many times these sorts of lies will be found in a cluster along with corresponding spirits to reinforce these lies. However, the spirit is only there because of the lie. The lie opens the door for the demon to enter. I often refer to these lies as garbage and demons as rats.

Remove the garbage, and the rats will look for new food to feed on SOMEWHERE ELSE.

Guardian Lie: "It's okay for a married person to have sex with another woman/man other than your spouse."

If you believe this one, you open yourself up for all kinds of trouble. Remember, I told you that the Guardian Lie is there to protect other lies in your life. These other lies many times are bigger lies and the real root of the problem.

To have sex outside of your marriage commitment is not only sin, but everyone you have sex with opens you up to share in the demons they may carry. In this way, the adversary can infest an entire ministry with thousands of demons very quickly. And, for the most part, people don't have a clue.

The Guardian Lie - once in place - opens the door and will later provide the real devastation to follow.
