As we saw in our last issue sometimes when we speak for God it can cause quite a stir.
We need to raise our children, young men and young woman today on God's pure Word. If the Lord does not come in our life time who will bring the Word to the next generation?
Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
The devil is doing everything he can to stop God's Word and God's people in our day and time. In one of the latest editions of Webster's dictionary under the word married, the devil has now added homosexuals to this definition.
Noah Webster is rolling over in his grave I'm sure. Now, according to Webster, a man and a man can be married.
James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
I think that most people think the word resist means to hold on to like a tug of war, or perhaps to refuse to give in, or to say no to something tempting. These are meanings of the word resist but this is not the meaning of the word resist here in James 4:7...
*Roberson writes ... "But resist the devil (antisthte de tw diabolw). Second aorist (ingressive) active (intransitive) imperative of anqisthmi, "take a stand against." Dative case diabolw.
In our vernacular it means to get up off your butt and get right in the face of the devil and withstand him. BACK him down in the name of Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit that lives inside of you.
This is what it means to resist. It's not a passive holding on for dear life until the storm passes. It's an aggressive, active, intense, spiritual warfare strike against the devil and all his demons in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, Lord of Lord and King of Kings!
The result of such a stand is that the devil will flee.
Ephesians 6:11-13 11Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 13Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. The word withstand here means; to stand face to face against. Who will speak for God if we coward at the adversaries threats?2 Timothy 1:7-8 7For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 8Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;
I want you to write us here at Chapter and Verse or send us an e-mail sharing your testimony on how you resisted the devil and backed him down in Jesus name. Will you accept this challenge and exhortation to speak for the Lord? I pray you will. ÿ
